9th Annual Tree Hero Award Nominations
The Tree Hero Awards recognize outstanding commitments to trees by a person, a group, and a government jurisdiction.
Entry in the Sacramento Tree Hero Awards competition may be made in the following categories:
C.K. McClatchy Award
Honors a long-term commitment to trees at the regional or community level by an individual. In 2009, Dan Pskowski
received this award for his long-term commitment to trees in Sacramento.
Austin B. Carroll Award
Honors an organization or corporation whose work sets a worthy example for
others to follow in tree planting, stewardship, or education. Last year, this
award went to the Parker Development Company.
Legacy Award
Honors a tree, landscape or woodland for its natural value and beauty. Past recipients have
included a large Japanese zelkova offering decades of shade to local school
children.
Growing Greenprint Award (new!)
Honors a government jurisdiction in the Sacramento region that has made noteworthy contributions toward improving their communities by building a better urban forest. Such contributions may include advances in tree planting and management, the development of community partnerships, and the establishment of sound urban forest policies.
Anyone can nominate a Tree Hero. Nomination forms are available from the Tree
