November 1, 2016

First there was Black Friday. Then Cyber Monday. Now, thankfully, there is Giving Tuesday!

Four years ago, the 92 Street Y in New York City and the United Nations Foundation found they shared a belief there should be a one-day annual movement focused on charitable giving during the holiday season. They chose the Tuesday after Thanksgiving as Giving Tuesday.

We have decided to join this effort with what we have affectionately dubbed #GivingTreeTuesday. We chose this name to both honor the selfless giving shown in the beloved children's book, The Giving Tree (thank you, Shel Silverstein), and to also highlight our more than three decades of work building a healthier Sacramento region through trees.

#GivingTreeTuesday falls on November 29 this year. Please check our website for ongoing updates throughout the month. We hope you will consider making a special end-of-year gift to the Sacramento Tree Foundation or a charity of your choice on this special day of giving.
