Bear River Habitat Trail

About the Project
The Bear River Habitat Trail Project was
developed through a relationship between the Sacramento Tree Foundation and
Yuba County under the regional Greenprint Initiative. A proposal for the Bear
River Habitat Trail Project was submitted to the California Department of
Natural Resources in mid-2014 to request funding under the Environmental
Enhancement and Mitigation Program which would allow us to complete a habitat
corridor along a multi-use trail, portions of which had yet to be paved.
In
order for the habitat corridor to be easily accessed by people, we proposed to
complete the paving of the parking lot and trail along which native plants
would be established. The project was approved for funding June 2015 and trail construction
began November 2015. Tree and native vegetation planting will begin January
2016 and a second phase will occur November 2016 - March 2017.
