Saucer magnolia
Magnolia × soulangeana
Although we typically provide this tree, it is temporarily unavailable through our free tree program. It may be available for purchase from local nurseries.
The saucer magnolia is easily identified by its pink and white teacup-sized flowers in early spring that appear dramatically before the leaves bud out. It tends to grow with multiple trunks, giving it a round and spreading shape. It flowers best when planted in full sun but can tolerate partial shade. This tree is one of our smallest medium-sized trees and is a great fit for those trying to maximize shade in smaller areas.
